About Us
John and Ann HeffingtonAnn is a native Texan and John has family Texas roots to the 1840s. We met at Michigan Business School while pursing MBAs and have different skills and expertise but common stances in projects we pursue. Foremost, we always ‘do what is right’ and tell the truth. Sometimes we take a lead role in real estate development projects. Sometimes we play a supporting role or provide advice and guidance. In all cases, we strive for successful outcomes that reach or exceed goals.

Who We Are |
John Heffington is a formally educated engineer who found his calling in real estate development. Trained at Trammell Crow and CBRE, he knows the nooks and crannies of the market but is best known for his open and honest relationships with clients and the trust they place in him. John often envisions higher and better uses of existing raw land or active real estate and pieces together solutions in his partnerships and for his clients.
Ann Schwartz Heffington is passionate about growing businesses. Sometimes she helps bring nascent ideas to reality and other times she fixes aspects of businesses that are broken or grows assets that are under-performing. Her consulting background lends itself across multiple industries and she specializes in hospitality, focusing efforts on development, investment opportunities and select consulting. She excels in designing experiences that delight guests and deliver owner returns. |
Our History |
Open Six is John’s grandfather’s vintage brand – the one he used on his ranch to brand livestock, to show not only ownership but also a mark of trust to the neighbors and the community. This brand is a symbol of hard work, ownership, honesty, integrity and rolling up sleeves. It is in this spirit that we are pursing our interests today and building on this legacy.
